Chapter 8—Icy winds vs. molten rocks

The next morning Josh was waking up in his bed when the light of the morning sun hit his face he got up a little wobbly as Spyro had worked him hard last night for the brawl with Glacier. “Oh man I can barely stand much less fight. “Awake yet Josh” Spyro said as he entered the room “Well yeah but I can’t fight Glacier now I can barely stand up” “Oh you think I didn’t think about” Spyro smiled he then help Josh up and helped him walk outside to a patch of red and Green crystals. Josh was confused by what he saw “How are these supposed to help” he asked Spyro “Well put your hand on the red crystals first and see for yourself” Spyro pointed at the crystal. Josh just shrugged he was not in the mood for this so he did as he was told and touch the crystal the crystal started to glow and in a split second  felt a soothing feeling across his body melting away all his aches and pains. “Oh man how did it do that I feel like nothing happened last night” “These crystals power us dragons with energy the red one helps us get are energy back while the green ones restore are elemental energy” Spyro answered for him.  “Really well at least now I can fight Glacier at top condition” Josh assured himself “Yeah but still he is going to give you some trouble if your not careful” Spyro cautioned that caused Josh to start to worry a bit.
Later that day everyone gathered to meet at the dragon arena well everyone that is except for the competitors they where finishing up some last minute warm up sessions before they went out. Flare was the first to arrive at the stadium and she was excited to watch them fight “Well look who it is what took you guys so long to get here” She smirked “You have quite the nice welcoming voice” Voltica spoke sarcastically “What ever I’m just here for the show you guys must be as well” “No were not were here to see how this go’s for helping Josh” “Yeah right I bet you want to see him get smacked around Voltica” Thoron smirked which caused him to get smacked in the back of the head by Voltica. “So Spyro how did the training go last night” Cynder asked him with concern. “Well I was able to tell him how to use his earth powers and basic’s but that was about it” “Really then maybe this will be done in about 2 seconds” Flare smirked which caused Voltica to glare at her with anger “Look there they are” Mist pointed out.
It was then that the others saw both Josh and Glacier enter the ring both of them with determination but for Josh most of that was fear of what it would be like to fight for real and not in combat sessions with Thoron:
Flashback
       Josh and Thoron were going in circles waiting for the other to make a move while Spyro was watching there every movement. Suddenly Thoron made a move and swiped at Josh but Josh got out of the way and was able to jump Thoron before he could react in time leading to the point that Josh had Thoron pinned on the ground “Man this sucks this is even more annoying and painful then the time I got caught following a bunch of girls. “Why were you following a bunch of girls around” “Hey you can’t say you have never been curious about girls before” Both Josh and Spyro just let out sighs at his remark. “Well what ever Josh you have it down with the pouncing but it’s going to get even tougher when your fighting Glacier so I think it’s time for some more advanced stuff now” Spyro said “OH MAN”! both dragons said at the same time.
End of Flashback
Josh and Glacier took there positions and were ready to begin “Here are the rules Josh first to pin the other wins sound fair” “Fine by me I suppose” Josh shrugged. Josh and Glacier started to circle each other waiting for the other to make a move Glacier was just smiling waiting for Josh to try anything to get at him. Finally Josh makes the first move leaping at Glacier with his paws but Glacier leaped back and then proceeded to leap at him Josh rolled away just a split second before Glacier hit the ground “Man he almost got me on the first try” Josh thought to himself knowing how lucky he was to avoid that. “Like I said he is going to lose” Flare said with a Smarty pants look on her face “Hey the match had just started” Voltica Flared at her.
Glacier turned back to Josh who looked like he was keeping his distance from him “Heh that’s not going to work” Glacier then drew in energy and started to shoot ice shards at him Josh started to retreat dodging the ice as it came along “Hah I don’t know what he’s doing running or thinking while running” Flare started to laugh but that changed as Voltica smack her side with her tail she had about enough of her for sometime now. Josh was continuing to run away from the ice shots but then remember what he had learned from Spyro about his earth power:
Flashback
“Josh you have to understand your element a bit before you are able to release it” “Well how do you do that” Josh questioned Spyro “Well you have to be able to use it elements and know how to release the power from your body” “Especially since your going to be fighting Glacier” Thoron added. “Okay how” Josh asked, Spyro grinned “Well first off you have to close your eye’s” Josh didn’t understand but did what Spyro said “Now feel the earth below your feet and imagine it rising to you and release it at the target” Josh did that and without really understanding it he shoot a blast of stone at a tree the stone blasted through the tree making a hole in it “Wow nice shoot” Thoron stared. Josh was pretty proud of what he did but at the same time didn’t understand it “Just remember that Josh and you will understand it more the more you use it now lets try it without your eye’s closed”.
End of Flashback
Josh then turned towards Glacier and remembering what Spyro said to him charged up his power and started to shot volleys of stones at Glacier. Glacier started to run while shooting while Josh copied him but having a harder time because he had less experience with these powers. They continued there circle pace when both started to stop and catch there breathe “Face it Glacier that will not work on me anymore. “Then I will try something better” Glacier smirked a started to charge up again and before Josh could react Glacier shot a powerful beam of ice at him hitting the wall with a ton of force freezing the part it hit frozen solid in ice. “Glacier”! Mist suddenly blurred out Glacier then realized that she was mad at him “Oops sorry got a little to carried away ther- that was when a stone almost hit Glacier in the arm he then looked up to see Josh flying in midair.
“You taught him how to fly” Voltica looked at Spyro and he nodded “I thought it might be a good idea for him to know” Spyro said. Josh then looked at where he was and was surprised how fast he was able to get away with using his wings. “Alright time too finish this he said as he looked down and suddenly realized that Glacier was gone “Hey where’d he go” Josh looked around to find him but no luck. “Right behind you” he heard as Glacier rammed him and slammed him into the ground. “Oh that has got to hurt” Thoron pitied him “Guess you forgot to tell him about Glaciers high speed” Cynder said “Yeah I forgot about that” Spyro scratched his head. Josh was struggling to get up and Glacier was losing his grip so he decided to end this he dug his claws into his arms and that’s when things got cold as Josh saw his arms starting to freeze into ice patches.
Josh started to charge for another shot with his stones but Glacier grabbed his mouth with his claws and dug them into his skin and froze his mouth shut with ice. He then continued to freeze his arms and dug his back paws into his legs to freeze those and used his tail to pin his tail while Josh continued to struggle. “It’s over” Flare said as Glacier continue to freeze Joshes limbs “Darn I can’t lose now Josh started to say in his head “No not after all this training I went though just to fight this guy, losing now is just disgraceful it is just making me so… so MADDDDDDD!!!!!!!
Glacier then saw something coming toward Joshes mouth red energy started to build up and before he could respond he was blasted by an intense burst of flame. “What the heck” Flare suddenly jumped “He knows Fire as well”! “He’s able to use two elements just like Glacier” Mist said Glacier fell on his side and got up in time to see that Joshes body was on fire melting the ice that covered his body he then started to charge up another blast so Glacier started to do the same thing they both fired at the same time causing a blast from the attacks and before Glacier could respond stones with flames covering them came out of the smoke almost hitting Glacier but Glacier was barely able to dodge them. Unfortunately he turned to see Josh had flied through the smoke and before Glacier could respond Josh slammed his tail into Glacier sending him into the wall “Ow that has really got to hurt” Thoron commented.
Glacier then felt Josh pin his arm and legs and used his tail to pin his tail and even though Josh started to calm down Glacier couldn’t really get up, he didn’t want to lose but he could tell that the wind was knocked out of him and he couldn’t really do much this second. “Well Flare I guess you were wrong about Josh” Voltica smirked “I guess so Voltica I guess so” Voltica could tell Flare was surprised by Joshes last move as they headed down to see them. “You all right Glacier can you move” Mist said looking worried “Its okay Mist I’m fine I just got the wind kicked out of me for a second I’m fine” he then turned to Josh “Your pretty good here I go thinking I have the match when I had you slightly pinned” “Yeah me too your pretty good yourself Glacier but more importantly how did I use that flame power before” “Well it’s simple Josh you are like Glacier and can use to elements fire and earth” Voltica said to him in easily terms. “Really cool” “Well I think that this is a great and touching scene and all but shouldn’t we be heading back to the temple to meet certain someone’s” Flare said “Your right for once” Voltica said and then turned to Josh “Well lets get- Suddenly there was a huge explosion like noise outside in fact there were a number of explosion like noises outside and that made only one thought crossed everyone’s mind “What was that”.
